Freelance: Is freelance the new career trend among the millennial generation?

21 May

Hope at the end of a dark, jobless tunnel. If you’re a recent college graduate, this article is a MUST READ!

Beyond The Diploma

unemployed-graduates-2With the recent graduating class of 2013 saying goodbye to college, we can expect more talented and skilled young people to start entering the job market and learning quicker than ever just how hard it is to get a job. The economy is getting better every day, but many companies are remaining cautious before going on any hiring frenzy.

For the majority of young people and recent graduates who choose to enter the job market, there are four common career realities that they can expect.

1) Full-time employment – This is likely the most coveted direction in which many recent grads hope and strive for. Full time employment is highly sought out because of the constant work, good pay, generous benefits, and work-life balance that can come with it. But with many companies seeking employees with multiple years of experience and a vast pool of candidates to choose from, it’s…

Nutella Iced Mocha Recipe

23 Aug

The other day I was at a friend’s house and they had some instant coffee because they didn’t have a coffee maker. I wanted to make the best iced coffee possible, so I played around with a few ingredients and came up with a delicious recipe for a Nutella Iced Mocha. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Ingredients:

  • Boiling water
  • Instant coffee of your choice
  • Nutella
  • Milk
  • Ice
  • Whipped Cream (optional)
  • Cocoa Powder (optional)

Directions

Pour 3 or 4 heaping teaspoons of instant coffee into a coffee mug. Pour about 1 inch of water over the coffee and stir until the coffee is dissolved. You’ll have what looks like a shot of espresso. While the coffee is still hot, stir in 1 tablespoon Nutella and mix until mostly dissolved.

Either transfer the coffee and Nutella mix into a heat resistant glass or keep in the coffee mug. Then fill the glass with ice and add enough milk to triple the amount of coffee. Finally, top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cocoa powder for an added touch. Sip slowly and enjoy!

Epic Hair Moisturizing Failure

17 Jul

It’s really no secret that I bleach my hair. For the most part my hair has held up against the abuse I’ve dished out over the last year going from my natural black hair to the complete opposite, but as with all unnatural blondes my hair has started to get a little dry. To combat this, I bought one of those packets of moisturizer at the store to help bring a little life back to my hair. It had pearl essences in it…I couldn’t resist!

Last night I slathered it on my hair in the shower before I shampooed, then I slathered it on AGAIN after I shampooed so it would act as a masque/conditioner. Then I washed it out. Wanting to get the full moisturizing effect, I then slathered on some Argan oil (similar to Moroccan oil) and wrapped my hair in a towel. My long locks were feeling very silky and moisturized. Boy was I excited!

Jessica Simpson greasy hair

Jess, I feel your pain. Greasy hair can totally ruin your day 😦

That is until I took my hair out of the towel and started blow drying it. Then I realized I had created an oily, greasy hot mess on my head. I’m not joking, it felt like I had poured a bottle of olive oil over my head. But of course I was hard headed and didn’t want to wash my hair again. I thought that after I blow dried it and straightened it that some of the moisture would dry up…NOPE! I was left with a ball of grease – not a good look.

Ladies, learn from my epic hair moisturizing failure: Do not put moisturizer on your scalp!!! You will regret it. You can moisten up the ends to your heart’s content, but don’t let that stuff touch your scalp, unless you like the unbathed crack head look then go for it.
